Coronavirus return to Lombardy the Wuhan of the West

I was blogging about the danger of allowing the F1 Grand Prix to proceed. I even contacted an MP asking him to approach the government to cancel the event.

Yhe rationale behind the call was that many of the racing drivers and supporting team members were from Italy. Obviously, many race goers would also be from Italy.

Coronavirus was already spreading in many regions in Italy like wildfire. The federal and state governments were still pussy footing about shutting down inbound air traffic from overseas including Italian until the day after Italy initiated a lockdown banning all outbound travelling.

I could breathe a sign of relief, because there were enough statistics in the news media around the world supporting my view of early lockdown.

There were reports about Lombardy of Italy of early detection of an unknown pneumonia-like disease going on around November 2019, but no one seemed to be overly concern until the first case was announced when someone returned from Wuhan. Since then, Lombardy became the global epicentre of coronavirus as it saw the first major outbreak in Europe.

My recent blogs wrote about the coronavirus could have a much longer incubation period, and I think Lombardy case can possibly be a supporting justification. Many of the people in the region could have been carriers of the virus, but among those infected many were asymptomatic and possibly exhibited mild symptoms only.

Recently many people wanted to erase "history" of past people or events. I hope this Coronavirus pandemic, and similar pandemic like the Spanish Flu should not be used as political football and erased from record to remind us of human beings are very vulnerable to death - not by slavery, hunger, nuclear weapons, pollution, but by microscopic viruses, invisible to naked eyes, and NOT an invention by human race.

Thank you for reading.

Spanish flu should be renamed as Kansas flu

Spanish flu should be renamed as Kansas flu

Spanish flu should be renamed correctly as Kansas flu estimated to have killed up to 100 million in 1918-1920.

It is important no one should point fingers at any country at present the origin of the coronavirus.

Historian Alfred W. Crosby stated in 2003 that the flu originated in Kansas, and popular author John M. Barry described a January 1918 outbreak in Haskell County, Kansas.

The pandemic likely acquired this nickname because of World War I, which was in full swing at the time.

The major countries involved in the war were keen to avoid encouraging their enemies, so reports of the extent of the flu were suppressed in Germany, Austria, France, the United Kingdom and the U.S. By contrast, neutral Spain had no need to keep the flu under wraps.

That created the false impression that Spain was bearing the brunt of the disease.

One controversial aspect of Trump's response to COVID-19 is right

No country paid a damn when China locked down Wuhan, but condemned the government as heavy handed.

“... had Chinese authorities acted three weeks sooner to declare what was known about the virus, global pandemic cases could have been reduced by 95 per cent.” This is total rubbish and the author is off the rocker, because 95% will not withstand even the simplest test in any mathematical modelling.

Today marks the end of 3 months since Chinese revealed the discovery of the deadly virus. Has US locked down all the states to curb the spreading? Instead the country take the guernsey in the number of infection cases and fatality.

According to Wikipedia, “To maintain morale, World War I censors minimized early reports of illness and mortality in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States.”, and sadly, “Historian Alfred W. Crosby stated in 2003 that the flu originated in Kansas, and popular author John M. Barry described a January 1918 outbreak in Haskell County, Kansas, as the point of origin in his 2004 article.”

It is naive for some countries, especially the US led by President Donald Trump, to say “... calling coronavirus the 'Chinese virus' is 'not racist at all’”.

The author of this article is inciting racial divide. He is incorrect to even think that calling the controversial aspect of Trump's response to COVID-19 is right, that is calling the coronavirus as “Chinese virus”.
