Wake up Americans. Too many lives have been lost, and too much pain and suffering inflicted by the nonsensical directions from your leader and mismanagement of the pandemic.

Unions in Brazil accuse government of being 'criminally negligent in its management' of coronavirus pandemic.

Take a page from the Brazilians, and action now before more lives perish unnecessarily.

Don’t think that Victorian and New South Wales are over cautious in relaxing the restrictions. It is true that these states are still very low in confirmed cases and fatality, no one should be complacent and take things for granted.

Within the linked report is a table showing the various countries’ cases and deaths in different countries,

High infection rate may be a rough guide to the severity, but the actual number of deaths give a more disturbing story,

The ranking of number of deaths of various countries extracted is shown below:

  • USA
  • Brazil
  • UK
  • Italy
  • France

I am very surprised with the cases in France, and I shall research a bit more about the country.

Monday’s easing of restrictions postponed after alarming virus spike

I always suspect a second wave of Coronavirus attack would occur. My greatest fear of a big surge is when air travel resume ferrying inbound travellers from countries like US, UK, Sweden, Italy, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, etc. There are many infection hotspots around the world, but the number of travellers arriving from these places are not in large numbers.

So far the number of school children being infected is still very small, but that may not necessary mean that a surge may not take place. The recent cases that prompted the Premier to reimpose stricter rule dropping the number of visitors from 10 to 5 is a clear indication his and experts concern of a worse outbreak.

Most young people think that they are tough and invincible. They don’t believe they will die from the infection because statistics tells them so. However, they forget that if they become infected and display no symptom, does not mean that they can’t do a great deal of damage to the people they are in contact with, including their friends, spouses, parents, colleagues, and unknown people.

Please do take care and observe social distancing.

Coronavirus cases and deaths are still spiking in Brazil, US, India, South Africa and Sweden.

President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil, also often described as South America’s Donald Trump, remains dismissive of the devastating impact of the virus and opposed to lockdowns.

Russia is now behind only the United States and Brazil in its number of reported infections.

India still has over 5,000 cases a day, signalling the coronavirus outbreak is yet to slow down.

Sweden opted for a soft social distancing approach, and adopted a “principle of responsibility”. Its high death rate is a high price to pay for its “soft” COVID-19 policy.

Thank you.

China seizes on Trump comment US started working on coronavirus vaccine in January to deny cover-up claims
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/politics/article/3084786/china-seizes-trump-comment-us-started-working-coronavirus

Is this for real? How can anyone develop a vaccine without the virus? Did the US import the virus just to develop the vaccine? Was the virus already running amok in the US before China knew what the new virus was about?

While the Australia Prime Minister and some of his fellow puppy dog politicians call for an investigation of the origin of the virus from Wuhan, WHO wants a wider scope not restricting to Wuhan.

I have been blogging that the investigation must not limit to Wuhan, and it was too early and probably a waste of money to start a witch hunt.

Will the US co-operate with and be open to such investigation? I have also blogged several times to have as many bodies of deceased flu victims in the US who died long before November 2019 exhumed, so that autopsies could be conducted to find out whether the cause of death was from an unknown virus of that time, or SARS-COV-2 as it is known today.

Although I have not blogged as often about the African countries’ infection cases and fatalities, I am more than surprised that the news is not as bad as what the experts have been predicting. The COVID-19 has not reached an epidemic proportion at all.

Another interesting thing I observed is that many states in the US do not suffer as badly as New York and Washington. Hiw can this happen?

The architect of Sweden's decision not to have a coronavirus lockdown says he still isn't sure it was the right call

The architect of Sweden's decision not to have a coronavirus lockdown says he still isn't sure it was the right call
https://www.businessinsider.com.au/coronavirus-sweden-no-lockdown-anders-tegnell-not-convinced-right-call-2020-5

When Australia border reopens for international travellers, I would like to see people from countries which did not implement laws and exercise strict disciplines of lowering infection cases and deaths barred from entering the country.

A lot of people from many states in the US are less than cooperative to help curb the spread of the coronavirus. These are selfish and self-centred who care more about their so called freedom and rights, without paying a damn about the well-being of others.

Sweden has introduced only a handful of rules and left places like parks and restaurants open. Its death toll is much higher than neighbouring countries’.

It has a population just about 10.23 millions, and ,679 deaths as of Monday 4 May 2020. Australian Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg, in his Tuesday afternoon briefing disagrees that Sweden is doing a good job, with 40% of Australian population, but the fatality is 27 times.

People from Sweden, in my opinion, are walking time bombs. The architect of the Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s state epidemiologist, who charted the course not to lock down but adhering to some forms smart lockdown, has doubt whether he has done the right thing.

The danger lies in the asymptomatic infected people who roam and mingle freely in the community, and increase the virus load unknowingly, which in turn increases the chances for others getting infected, especially fatal for the weaker population as well as the seniors.

Sweden social experiment is a flop by comparison with Australia and New Zealand which impose lockdown.

Death of a person may be just a statistics in the larger scheme of thing, but the deceased means a lot to the loved ones. It is heartless to say another person dies of COVID-19.

It is unfortunate that due to ease of movement between countries, travellers from “well-behaved” countries could have been in close contact with people from those worrying countries.

Why an American mother rushed her daughters back to Shanghai during the Covid-19 outbreak

Why an American mother rushed her daughters back to Shanghai during the Covid-19 outbreak
https://www.scmp.com/magazines/post-magazine/long-reads/article/3082162/why-american-mother-rushed-her-daughters-back

This is an interesting article. Only if the rest of the world takes extra precaution, and necessary tracing from the start, the infection cases and fatality would not have been that disastrous.

Put aside political differences. It is unnecessary to be in opposition with China but to combat the common enemy, coronavirus SARS-COV-2. Selfishness and self-centredness will destroy the world.

This is the time to reflect on what divide the world, and start to learn from the good of other countries and work towards a world with less suspicion and more peaceful.

The world is getting more and more dangerous to live in, and is facing complete destruction caused by aggressive, undiplomatic, self-centred, power hungry politicians.

Australia, with reasonably low fatalities in this pandemic, unless the second wave strikes hard, can become the world leader of peace and humanity, but its government chooses to be the Deputy Sheriff and know-tow not to China but to the US.

Printing money or keep borrowing are not the ways to get Australia out of financial wows after the pandemic. Australia is not the Gilligan’s Island, and needs injection of foreign investment and having other countries to buy its coal, iron ore, wine, education and tourism.

India has more coal than Australia and Russia holds the second largest reserve. As for iron ore, Brazil is still a very large exporter despite its production has fallen to 4th place in the last quarter.

Covid-19 was in US earlier than first thought. Here’s why that’s important to know

https://www.scmp.com/news/world/united-states-canada/article/3081330/coronavirus-covid-19-us-earlier-first-thought-and

I have raised this doubt long ago in this group. How do we know that so many people died of flu in the US did not die of flu, but of coronavirus COVID-19?

Can some of the bodies be exhumed to find the traces of the virus?

I find it so laughable that during the early onset of the coronavirus outbreak, the Australian CMO was insistent that people-to-people or community transmission was unlikely, and did not inform the PM about such danger. It is a total nut case and stupid to believe in such hypothesis.

Why did Wuhan take such drastic action to lock down the city if it was not to prevent people-to-people transmission? Did all the infected victims in Wuhan consume bats?

I live by commonsense and logic, and there is no such university course available around the globe.

Stay home, stay safe.

February deaths in California upend what experts thought they knew about the virus’s spread in US, as antibody tests indicate a much greater incidence of infection, and possible recovery – information vital to help decide next steps to take.

US and China set aside coronavirus differences and pledge to work together

This is what I have been waiting for - US and China stand united to combat this deadly disease COVID-19.

It is very typical of President Donald Trump, a man of few words (vocabulary), to acknowledge that “China sent us some stuff, which was terrific.”

Now, the trouble is, will all the states in the US cooperate and work as one, or some will go their own way?

Captain of coronavirus-hit US aircraft carrier with up to 5,000 crew asks for urgent help

We heard so much about cruise ship passengers being infected with the coronavirus, and after disembarkation, some will die and other infected ones add to the statistics of the case list.

Unfortunately, the virus does not discriminate an ordinary passenger, or one who wears a uniform serving the country.

Questions must be asked how these “sailors” of the aircraft carrier contract the deadly disease. Ordinary people cannot get on the ship, but the sailor can get off it when it docks at some ports before reaching Guam.

Social distancing proves to be the way to prevent spreading the disease. Unfortunately these poor sailors do not have the luxury to physical distance from each other at 1.5m or 5ft during dining and carrying out their duties. Even the sleeping cabin is very tiny compared with those on a cruise ship.

Guam has its first infected case. It can ill afford to have many more, because the hospital and healthcare systems are not catered for an outbreak, even if it is on a very scale.

Please for your life sake and others too, Stay Home and Stay Safe.

One controversial aspect of Trump's response to COVID-19 is right

No country paid a damn when China locked down Wuhan, but condemned the government as heavy handed.

“... had Chinese authorities acted three weeks sooner to declare what was known about the virus, global pandemic cases could have been reduced by 95 per cent.” This is total rubbish and the author is off the rocker, because 95% will not withstand even the simplest test in any mathematical modelling.

Today marks the end of 3 months since Chinese revealed the discovery of the deadly virus. Has US locked down all the states to curb the spreading? Instead the country take the guernsey in the number of infection cases and fatality.

According to Wikipedia, “To maintain morale, World War I censors minimized early reports of illness and mortality in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States.”, and sadly, “Historian Alfred W. Crosby stated in 2003 that the flu originated in Kansas, and popular author John M. Barry described a January 1918 outbreak in Haskell County, Kansas, as the point of origin in his 2004 article.”

It is naive for some countries, especially the US led by President Donald Trump, to say “... calling coronavirus the 'Chinese virus' is 'not racist at all’”.

The author of this article is inciting racial divide. He is incorrect to even think that calling the controversial aspect of Trump's response to COVID-19 is right, that is calling the coronavirus as “Chinese virus”.

Younger adults are a large percentage of coronavirus hospitalisations in US, Europe, data shows

Most children are shorter than adults, and the chances they “catch” or inhale the droplets of saliva expel from an infected are slimmer. Even so, the droplets from coughs are propelled forward rather than downward, and therefore the number of droplets fallen is substantially less than direct face-to-face contact at the same height.

After that being said, if an infected child is to “socialise” with other children, the child is likely to infect them. Despite the government and health authority directives not to close school, concerned parents are wise to enforce the social distancing rule by not allowing their children to attend school.

Now that the proof is out that the younger people are just as vulnerable to be infected, we can only hope that universities and colleges will not become clusters of infection.
