Coronavirus: living samples found on frozen food packaging in east China’s Qingdao, CDC says

An outbreak of Covid-19 in Qingdao, which started last month and was linked to two port workers who had been patients at the same hospital. The workers were asymptomatic, but a few days later, a total of another13 people were infected.

CDC could not confirm whether the workers were infected by handling infected packages or contaminated the packages themselves after contracting the virus somewhere else.

According to the CDC investigation, living samples of the coronavirus have been detected on frozen food packaging.

Testing of Qingdao's 10 million residents was carried out over five days. To be exact, the total number is 10,899,145. What an incredible feat!

There are many news media outlets publishing the same story but a great deal of variation. In order to find out the authenticity, I turned to YouTube, and the China newspaper, not just relying on South China Morning Post.

Several news articles do not mention anything about the frizen food, and presence of virus in the packaging causing the cross infection. They mainly emphasise the hospital not being decontaminated properly.

The number of people tested varies greatly, from 4 million to 11 million.

Thank you for reading.

A Covid-19 patient in the UK now has permanent hearing loss

It probably is my naivety to assume that loss of hearing should not be a surprise after a serious recovery from COVID19from COVID-19. After all, the disease causes respiratory problem, and affects the airway.

I shall continue after further research into this subject.

Donald Trump and wife Melania test positive for COVID-19

Donald Trump and wife Melania test positive for COVID-19
https://www.theage.com.au/world/north-america/donald-trump-and-wife-melania-test-positive-for-covid-19-20201002-p561cu.html

At about 3:30 pm, 2 October, 2020 I read The Age and found out Donald Trump and wife Melania tested positive for COVID-19.

I never wish anyone to subject to such unpleasant episode. This virus does not discriminate on the basis of wealth, race, colour, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or status.

At 74 years old and obese, Trump falls into the highest risk category for serious complications from the disease, which has killed more than 200,000 Americans and more than 1 million people worldwide.

The President’s closest advisers, Hope Hicks, contracted the infection, was experiencing symptoms, and had been in close proximity to the President without a mask in recent days.

Hicks travelled to and from the presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio with him. She was also aboard the President’s helicopter, Marine One, to Joint Base Andrews, and on Air Force One for the President's visit to Minnesota political rally.

Study by Cornell Alliance for Science shows that Donald Trump is the world’s biggest driver of coronavirus misinformation. His remarks on use of disinfectant and hydroxychloroquine led to major spikes articles on ‘miracle cures’. A study of coronavirus patients in a US government-run hospital for military veterans found more deaths among those treated with hydroxychloroquine than those treated with standard care.

Donald Trump claimed that the pandemic was a hoax for political gain by the US Democratic Party. He also alleged that the virus was a bioweapon released by a laboratory in Wuhan, China.

He suggested the possibility of injecting disinfectants inside the body to cure the coronavirus. While a disinfectant can kill viruses on surfaces, it can be poisonous if ingested.

Another of his ideas floated was exposing patients to "ultraviolet or just very powerful light". UV irradiation and high heat are known to kill virus particles on surfaces, but by the time the virus has taken hold inside the body, no amount of UV light on the skin will make a difference.

If the infection is very mild, Donald Trump may become more comical and cynical. However, if his condition gets worse and requires hospitalisation like British prime minster Boris Johnson, his views and outlook about the pandemic may change after his recovery.

Get well soon, POTUS and FLOTUS.

Sweden records highest daily rise in COVID-19 cases since June

Sweden records highest daily rise in COVID-19 cases since June
https://www.theage.com.au/world/europe/sweden-records-highest-daily-rise-in-covid-19-cases-since-june-20201001-p5618d.html

A surge in infection in Sweden is not unexpected, just like Quebec and Ontario. If no drastic measure is taken, the rise is likely to be exponential in the next few weeks. There is no data to show the number of people tested, and therefore the number of infections will not reflect the real situation.

There are other reports to show that economically Sweden is no better than or just as bad as the neighbouring countries, although the people have enjoyed more freedom of movement.

In my previous post I touched on super spreaders. In my opinion, I believe it is likely one is among these newly infected in Sweden. The number of infection cases will continue to grow because of super spreader.

You may recall Lombardy in Italy started with medical doctors witnessing cases of patients died of pneumonia-like disease in November 2019, but no action was taken. Things became drastically wrong, and a large number of the population, especially the aged, died in the subsequent months.

UK is another example. Boris Johnson bragged about his visit to hospital treating infected patients and took photos with them without wearing a mask. He was experimenting with the theory of “herd immunity”. Fortunately, he was struck down by the virus himself, or else health policies would not change to curb with the rapid rise.

Wearing mask in public places is not a human rights issue or a fashion statement. It is about quality of life. Your health, or even your life is in your own hand now! Take good care and stay safe.

Just one 'super-spreader' could spark a third coronavirus wave

https://www.theage.com.au/national/just-one-super-spreader-could-spark-a-third-coronavirus-wave-20200930-p560jl.html

Most people do not ask questions even on matters that concern them. Some have no idea what is going on. A few will probe and ask why, either to satisfy their curiosity or want to find out more in order to pursue their subject further.

In my case, I ask not only why but also why not. Very often, my thought process is similar to an atomic chain reaction.

On several occasions I can’t control my thoughts and ideas. They keep pouring out automatically and unconsciously. I have no epidemiology and medical training, but my knowledge in science and other disciplines, plus my logic mind enable me to postulate children possessing certain immunity and being super spreaders.

The presence of an infected person or persons in an enclosed area and confined space with poor insufficient air circulation, the virus population can only increase in the air or on objects touched by the infected. When I meet someone in the open, I try to social distance at a distance further than recommended whenever possible, and with a mask on. I try NOT to face each other, but stand next to the person, or perpendicular to the person. In addition, I shall also ask the person to stand in a more sheltered spot on windy day, and stand sideway so any aerosol is blown away, not in the face on either party.

I have seen shoppers going extra lengths to take precaution in wiping down the trolleys or shopping baskets at larger supermarkets, but when they go to smaller stores or “farms” selling fruit and vegetables, all the precautions are forgotten.

Anyone can be infected unknowingly, because there are asymptomatic carriers out there. It is important that even when dealing with people you know well, like family members, do not assume they are completely innocent; whho they have met or encountered may not be 100% virus free. We must not be over paranoid or we will die of fear or depression. However, observing basic hygiene rules and logic of air circulation and air flow can minimise getting infected.

Quebec reports 799 new cases of COVID-19 as hospitalizations increase by 35

Quebec reports 799 new cases of COVID-19 as hospitalizations increase by 35

Few weeks ago, Victoria was hit by a second wave of coronavirus outbreak and resulted in Stage 4 restriction lockdown. The number of infection cases soared to more than 700 cases a day.

No one wanted the lockdown to take place, which initially would last for 6 weeks, but it ended with an extention of another two more weeks.

The curve started to flatten, and eventually down to single digit a few days ago, and now back to low double digit. The low number as explained by the Premier was likely due to low number of people coming forward for testing, nevertheless it was comforting to see a decline in infection cases.

Even with tough restrictions, there were many defiant people who attended private parties, or refused wearing face masks.

Many people are not happy about the 5 km travel zone limit, while hospitality operators' patience is running out.

In about three weeks' time, restriction will be eased further, depending on the what will happen during this period. I like to see that the Premier is going to stand firm even though he will be labelled as a "dictator".

In my opinion, his hard line management style is justifiable. Many cities around the world are experiencing a resurgence of infections, and their governments and health authorities describe the situation as critical. Montreal in Quebec as at Sept 28, reported 799 new cases which brought the total to 73,450 cases since the start of the pandemic. Between Sept. 22 and 27. The total number of deaths in the province stood at 5,833.

Premier François Legault of Quebec pointed out that more than half the cases of community spread were happening in the younger population. Quebec would became Canada’s first province to reintroduce tough shut down measures.

Several cities in Ontario are posting record cases. According to The New York Times, "Epidemiologists attributed the growing numbers of case to inadequate contact tracing; an unwillingness to shut down schools and businesses; and people letting their guards down."

It is less likely for one to be infected in open space than at an indoor area, such as restaurant, religious assembly and at a friend's house.

So, keep you face mask on, wash your hands, observe social distancing and stay safe.

New blame game emerged. The target is the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison. I have difficulty in accepting him as our national leader. I shall blog about the mishandling of Ruby Princess saga in due course, even the inquiry into the outbreak onboard the ship is closed.

Very soon, the second wave coronavirus outbreak saga will come to an end. I could not stop myself discussing Victoria’s politics and defending Premier Daniel Andrews’ tough stance after the initial mishandling the debacles.

In response to a linked article in a friend‘s Timeline on the subject of Andrews’ performance, I commented as follows:

I strongly disagree that other Premiers can do a better job, or just as good as Daniel Andrews. I am not a Andrews political supporter, but what I have observed of his performance in the past months, I think he had copped enough flacks for a bad run of the outbreak.

Unlike other states, Victoria had multiple hotspots. The blame should go the mindless individuals. Ruby Princess is one big cluster, and the tracing was not as difficult since the passengers after their bad experience, they were likely to be vigilant and cooperative in assisting the authority. Many people praised NSW Premier for prompt apology about the Ruby Princess debacle, but then she apologised after the close of the inquiry. On the contrary, Andrews said sorry unreservedly just before the close of the inquiry.

The organisation structure of the DHHS is not satisfactory, and CMO Brett Sutton is three diwn from the bureaucrat who was stood down after the inaptness in hiring the private security guards. Was he sidelined by Andrews or Sutton’s superior was the problem?

On hindsight, many become expert armchair general, complaining about bad modelling. The question is, “was there a previous pandemic to assure the model used give accurate prediction?” There are so many unknowns and variables, and assumptions are made more or less blindfolded. Probably billions of dollars have been spent worldwide in weather forecasting hardware and software, and yet we can’t rely on the forecast 100%. It is unlikely that the covid-19 modelling used by Victoria, or other states, can claim to be accurate and robust. The failure of the Hotel quarantine leads to spread of infection and deaths. In any language, it boils down to the failure is related to health, and therefore the top brass of DHHS must face the music, and pays the ultimate price.

I shall resume bringing you news update and more scientific research findings about this deadly virus soon.

<b>New Zealand identifies its first coronavirus case – seven months after infection</b><br/>https://www.scmp.com/news/asia/australasia/article/3102662/new-zealand-identifies-its-first-coronavirus-case-seven

The mystery is solved! A New Zealand man infected seven months ago, has been identidied as the first coronavirus case.

The infection occurred in late February after exposure to a visitor from Italy but the family suffering symptoms was not tested at the time, because their cases did not the case definition of the time.

The man recently developed a sore throat and sought testing. His weak positive result and serology test results and case history indicated an old infection of the virus.

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/the-feed/news-corp-slammed-for-unbalanced-reporting-on-victorian-premier-as-poll-shows-majority-supports-him

According to the Newspoll, Daniel Andrews' decision of the tough lockdown in Victoria has the support of at least 62% of the population.

Unfortunately, many friends and family members are divided, due to News Corp publications which have continued to spin a negative portrayal of Daniel Andrews.

In my early days, I did instigate sacking of the Premier for his mishandling of several past debacles, including not cancelling the Grand Prix earlier and not initiating a lockdown earlier. I am not going to repeat what I have blogged many times why I change my view about him.

When the pandemic is over, many previously dissatisfied Victorians will be thankful on reflection as they compare Victoria's coronavirus fatality and damaged economy with other countries which take an easy way out.

Please do follow the government's advice, and stay safe. After all, who wants to be unpopular, especially the government in power?

Why misinformation about COVID-19’s origins keeps going viral

Is it science fiction or science fact? Is it the work of a misguided professional putting years of hard work on the line to gain recognition and alleviate to stardom?

There are a lot research done on bats, known to carry similar virus. An experiment on an virus that went wrong sounds more plausible than a creation of a new one.

Trust is earned, and recognition by peers takes time. Many experts do not gain recognition overnight. Indeed, many are silent achievers, and their names are never known to the public.

I love travelling, but have no idea who invented the jet engine. At the home front, I have no idea who invented the gas cooker, induction hot plate and microwave oven, all these replace the wood and charcoal stoves.

There are a lot of fake news, and they do spread faster than real news. I hope my fellow readers help to pass on real news rather than fake ones.

The linked article is very informative and interesting. Enjoy.

Scientists dismiss theory that coronavirus was developed in Chinese labs

I can't think of a good reason what Li Meng Yan is trying to achieve. Is she being honourable and honest by publishing her theory that coronavirus was developed in China? Is she being revengeful to settle some old scores with her former superior?

Was her research data the property of the rightful owner, China? Has her paper been scrutinised by peer review?

It is a very sad case indeed. So it is ok for her whistle blow, if it is found her claim to be true, but Julian Assange has to receive harsh treatment for what he had done.

Her claim seems to be questionable, and disputed by scientists and researchers in several countries.

How likely are these professionals being corrupted and colluded to dismiss her theory? I think the answer is a definite NO. I rest my case.

I have been wondering for months and raised the question in this group regarding where the coronavirus will go to when flushed down the toilets, or through our washing the hands, and what damage can they cause in time to come?

I am also troubled by the disposal of millions of used masks in our household garbage, which presents another environmental pollution.

I have been using washable mask, and hopefully no coronavirus are adhered to it, or else they will go down the washing basin, or down the drain.

How many non-Asian researchers can you spot in this photo? The world is full of racists, and they brand people according to their skin colour, or the country of birth. However, if these victimised people faces are not revealed, and true identities including name changed not disclosed, biased racism seem to take the back burner.

Scott Morrison has signed letters of intent with numerous countries to buy potential Covid-19 vaccines, but as far as information available to the public, China is not in the list. Is the government really working for the good of Australians, or it is another childish quabble not to buy anything from China, even if the vaccine could potentially save lives?

https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/health-environment/article/3097553/south-korea-grave-situation-after-biggest-coronavirus

South Korea has a surge again.

Many religious leaders around the world, including the recent one in California, are doing injustice to the followers. Are they spreading fake gospel and teaching, leading the followers in believing that their lives will be spared or protected from the pandemic

Should they encourage the followers continue to attend mass services against health authority advice and government order?

Is a good reason to ask followers to attend in person. It is not the same to donate to a bank account to an online preacher broadcasting over the Internet. Many older people are not savvy with the technology, and donations are not forthcoming without their presence.

Mega religious establishments with annual income in tens of millions of dollars do not have to submit any financial reports to the government, and therefore how much money collected, whose pockets are lined, are not disclosed.

These big gatherings cannot observe social distancing, and normally they are in an enclosed assembly area. It is also as a tradition to hug and kiss as expression of love to their fellow believers

In order to avoid another lockdown, do not be too impatient to attend large gathering, especially with the congregation singing. Your life is precious, and do not throw it away.

PS many believers think that the end of the world is near, because many of the signs coincide with what were written in the Book of Revelation. Well, if the world does not end this time, there will always be another similar occurrence that fits reasonably well with the content of the Book!

Hong Kong third wave: coronavirus may have stopped mutating, making it more infectious

Commenting on "Hong Kong third wave: coronavirus may have stopped mutating, making it more infectious

https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/health-environment/article/3095062/hong-kong-third-wave-coronavirus-may-have-stopped

I have a hypothesis why children appear to be dormant spreaders at present.

The virus has "intelligence". It relies on a host to multiply and spread. According to a report in HK, the process of mutation seems to have stopped in Hong Kong, because the genome of the virus of infected incoming travellers from other nearby Asian countries seem to be the same as the Hong Kongers’. What this means, the virus has mutated and adapted to the human body environment. That also implies the virus is now more infectious, dangerous and powerful.

The European, UK and US virus variants are different from the Chinese, and that can only be explained by mutation to adapt to the different genetic makeup of non-Asian / non-Chinese

When the virus infected a child, it "knows" the life span of the child is longer, and adapt to the child's body environment, and multiple without causing the host to die, and therefore the child exhibits no symptoms. The virus stay low until the right time to strike, and even with the discovery of vaccine, it may not be able to counteract the the mutated virus.

I can't think of any explanation except to base on the "theory" related to "the survival of the fittest".

Very young children are much shorter than an adult, and any aerosol that carries the virus eventually fall due to gravity is likely to be the same as "light illumination intensity", inversely proportional to the radius square. The viral load is much lower as it gets closer to the ground.

Young children also has small palm surface area, and also contributes to less virus adhere to the contact area.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/97000-kids-test-positive-for-covid-19-in-two-weeks-report-says/ar-BB17J8T7

At long last, the bad news is out and confirmed. WHO and news media did not give enough warning and air time to warn the public about the danger of children getting infected. They are just as vulnerable as the adults and may die like the aged.

Just ask yourself the simple question - children can easily contract whooping cough, cold and flu, measles, small pox, polio, why shouldn’t they get infected by the COVID-19 just as easily?

The third wave is inevitable and more dangerous than before, and is likely spread by the super spreaders - the children.

I kept blogging that we must use our commonsense instead of waiting for the painstaking statistics collection. We must take preemptive action to test the children, and no news is NOT necessary good news. It’s like the an ostrich burying it’s head in the sand not wanting to accept the realty of such simple logic. Despite every attempt conducted by the government to contact trace, and yet there still remains many unknown sources. The unknown source is just metres away - the children.

Adults have to observe social distancing, and yet children are exempted. The children need not wear mask too. Parents and adults carry children, hug them, and kiss them without thinking that the children can get infected unknowingly by the adults who may be asymptomatic, and conversely, the children may be a carrier and spread to the parents, their siblings and anyone in close proximity.

If you are a member or follower of my FB group, SFC Coronavirus News & Articles, you would have read about my strong words concerning the restriction ruling, and my opposition letting children to return to schools with face-to-face contact.

Plase do not take your young children for granted that they are safe and free from the virus. It is not going overboard by wearing a mask at home if you want to be close to young children.

This is strongest condemnation of Trump‘s nonsensical crap about children being almost immune to the virus.

I cannot understand how his supporters share his views, and his way of handling the pandemic. It is crystal clear that many innocent are dying, not only the aged, but the young and children too.

Either he has gone senile, or his brain has been damaged by the virus, the things that come out from his mouth make no sense to any rational person.

Please do not take his words on the subject of this pandemic. The disease is fatal, and no one is spared. So stay home if you have no urgent matter to go out for, do the right thing, wear mask, wash hands under running water for 20 seconds, and stay safe.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/williamhaseltine/2020/07/31/new-evidence-suggests-young-children-spread-covid-19-more-efficiently-than-adults/

This is the prediction I made and I wish it will never realise. However, I believe my fear will surface soone

I have blogged repeatedly that my biggest fear is that children will be the super spreaders who cause the biggest wave of infection and fatality.

I really want to see that all children tested, whether they show signs of infection or not, because they are more than likely to be asymptomatic and with long incubation.

Until now, I still cannot work out how medical professionals and scientists hold the opinion that children are considered low risk, without sufficient number of children being tested.

My logic tells me otherwise, and more research must be done hopefully to remove that myth.

I just want to reiterate that children are so susceptible to many diseases and viral infection, such as whooping cough, small pox, measles, polio, etc., and therefore it makes no sense that they can escape this deadly pandemic.

It is just nonsensical that children are exempted from wearing masks, because the existing statistics tell those experts so. Infant infection cases and mortality are slowing increasing, as reported by children hospital. If the researches in the the linked article are proven realisable and correct, then parents with infected children are likely to have a higher viral load because of their close proximity to the children.

I was brought up in a family with Chinese background, and my early childhood illnesses were cured by herbal medicine. Avoidance of eating certain foods for different type of coughs, and inclusion of offals for iron essential for the red blood cells were common.

Such practices worked, despite the lack of scientific evidence, data or hard statistics to prove the effectiveness until later years when herbal medicine became an accepted discipline to pursue in universities in China and abroad.

In an early study by the China authority, children were found as easily infected as adults, but they were asymptomatic. Will any of our states take an proactive preemptive strike to study the infection rate of young children and whether they will present a big risk to the community?

Prevention is better than cure.

Daniel Andrew's procrastination and weak punishment system cause more and suffering

For the past few weeks, I was really mad at the state government, led by Daniel Andrews, being so weak in imposing stricter restrictions and harsher penalty on those flouting the laws.

Procrastination only defers the inevitable, but the consequence is much worse, because it brings about longer period of pain and suffering to the individuals and the economy.

There were enough examples around the world that quick action in shutting a city can curb the spread of the virus much faster and more effectively. Just because China is run by CCP, New Zealand a small country, and Taiwan an island as big as Tasmania, give no excuse for Melbourne for not taking a leaf from their success stories.

I am still waiting for the the graphic advertisements to be shown on television, now that people are housebound, especially during the curfew hours between 8pm and 5am.

If the government does not “brain wash” those stubborn, rebellious sceptics now, I can bet my dollars on another shut down. These campaigns are more than “brain washing”, they should also be instructional and educational.

Daniel Andrews may be working very hard, or even 24 hours a day, but his effort is not achieving the desired results, and therefore it is time wasted. Not only that, many lives have been lost, and a lot financial and labour resources wasted.

I want to repeat here - drastic moment calls for drastic action. Softly, softly approach does not grab the attention of the Covidiots, and without harsh punishment for the people flouting the laws make him a laughing stork.

As I have pointed at the beginning of July, both the Federal and State governments failed to capture the moment to put on visually graphic advertisements to grab the attention of the rebellious Covidiots. After more than six months, the converts need no more convincing about the danger of SARS-Cov-2.

Do we really need to take another month or longer to collect statistics to prove that second wave will knock on Victoria's door, and that complete lockdown is the most effective way to minimise economic loss? Do we really need to reinvent the wheels?

The list of mistakes made grows longer each day, and and around September, I predict the biggest wave of outbreak will occur, and this time will be from the children. I have no data to support my argument; however, I can't satisfy my own logic why children, who are always more susceptible to many diseases and virus infections, have not been a dominant group of victims during this pandemic?

I am very concerned, or in fact very scared!

There is a distinction between a manager and leader. A manager lives by figures and data, but lack intuition and vision. A leader listens and observes, but not necessarily takes the views of his managers and comes to the ultimate decision. Well, there are leaders like to be known as Consensus leaders.

Once the aged care homes were identified as hotspots, prompt actions and sweeping changes should have been made to curb the mounting fatality. This incident is not different from the Hotel Quarantine debacle, the meat works, compulsory wearing face mask, and silly romantic exemption.

Daniel Andrews has a lot on his plate, but he is really losing his grip, and the photo in the article depicted him as “I know better” body language.

How many more mistakes can Victorians tolerate before more lives are lost and the economy take much longer to recover, if it does

This pandemic brings the ugly faces of our so called leaders in Australia!

Wake up Americans. Too many lives have been lost, and too much pain and suffering inflicted by the nonsensical directions from your leader and mismanagement of the pandemic.

Unions in Brazil accuse government of being 'criminally negligent in its management' of coronavirus pandemic.

Take a page from the Brazilians, and action now before more lives perish unnecessarily.

https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/can-i-visit-my-partner-under-melbournes-stage-three-coronavirus-restrictions-c-1151237

I have been blogging about weak leadership, and the winner is Daniel Andrew, a Premier with no spine.

Can you remember the "No Means No" global campaign? English is not my mother's tongue, and yet I think I can understand the meaning of the phrase.

What sort of nonsense is to allow partners living in separate premises to meet, under "romantic exemption"? Didn't he talked about family cluster is one of the problems, let alone partners who are not staying in the same address?

This is beyond a child's logic that one cannot visit a relative or next-of-kin living in another address, yet one can visit a partner during the lockdown.

Confusing message like this causes more stress and dissatisfaction, and that's why some sector in the community has enough of the wishy-washy nonsense that come out the Daniel Andrews' mouth.

Read the Restriction Regulation and stop community transmission.

Time for experts to take charge, time for Andrews to leave the podium

This is the only sensible news article I have read since the pandemic. Debacle after debacle, the Premier came out with “Johnny comes lately” decisions. I have made other suggestions before calling for more graphic ad campaigns depicting the real impact of human suffering, including death. None has been published.

Soft words are for the converts, not for the hardcore rebellious Covidiots. Instead of just being a blabber mouth, I have the following suggestions for various ad campaigns:

1. A statistician, or a well known personality from a election night tally room to talk about the statistics. The graphs are not showing bars or pie segments, but represented by Coronavirus and coffins or urns of ashes.

2. Someone comes for Covid test and confirmed positive days after. The anxious moment of the infected victim after getting the bad news, and impact on the individual and loved ones when the sufferer admitted to the ICU ward.

3. Paramedic, nursing staff and doctors in the ICU ward, rushing collapsed patients to the hospital, or ICU wards, showing patients on ventilators and finally having the equipment turned off.

4. A funeral director conducts a funeral session in an empty hall, and later shows graveyard land being excavated for burial of coffins, or urns.

5. Beach goers having great fun, ignoring social distancing, and getting infected. Laying in the hospital beds, they recall the good time they once had, but time is running out. The clock stops, and the Grim Reaper appears out of the blue. The screen goes black and only a long continuous sound from the heart monitoring machine can be heard.

Many of my posts about the pandemic and what I thought of politicians in handling the situations have not been published. I hope this comment does not violate any rules, because drastic moment calls for drastic action.

Thank you for reading.

PS no advertising agencies are allowed to claim my original ideas as theirs. Only government authorities are given permission to use and modified my suggestions. Prior contact before use is appreciated.

I probably should buy a caravan, and invest in a cheap glass ball from a 2-Dollar Shop, and read the future for the politicians and world leaders. Well, if the public come to me, they are more than welcome.

Although I sound more like a quack than a black-and-White hair Chinaman, what I have written did go through and filtered by my grey matter up on the top but inside my head.

Many things seem so blatantly obvious to me are not obvious to many. That’s the reason which causes my blood boiled. I criticise often that Australia lacks leadership, and it is so true.

Drastic time calls for drastic actions. Let history of the future be the judge. Leaders are to lead and need to make firm and tough decisions, not to pussy-foot just for short-term benefit. Why go half-way if more lives can be saved just by delaying a little longer for the lockdown, so that and economy can be restarted and be more sustainable.

Many of the early pandemic jargons are not heard of anymore, such as Containment, Mitigation, because Suppression and Elimination are in vogue.

I have written often about the advertising campaign being too weak, and the danger of this pandemic is not getting across, here in Australia and other countries. I just can understand why!

When the so called medical experts and leaders can’t agree with each other in their views on curbing the spread, what hope do the ordinary people have to live though this difficult time!

If you are in this group reading my blog, you are not one of those idiots that thinking Coronavirus SARS-COV-2 is a hoax, but highly infectious and deadly.

We do have the responsibility to pass on the message to the young adults and those in the adults under the mid-thirties when they get infected, they can still stand a chance to die. Even if they don’t but acutely infected, they will be on respirator, and their organs including their brains can be damaged.

I blame the Government authorities not putting on more visual, graphic and “scary” advertising materials to get the message through to the public.

In my opinion, some previous advertising campaigns were sensationally spectacular and effective. These include TAC advertisement on television, and highway billboard, showing accidents caused by drink driving and speeding; cigarette smoking causing cancers; WorkSafe playing on the emotion and impact on the loved ones of the victims experiencing workplace injury and death, and best of all the 1987 AIDS campaign depicting Grim Reaper holding his sickle, with Australians were being bowled over by a bowling ball in a 10-pin bowling lane.

Please do you part including your teenage children not to attend any crowded functions so soon even if lockdown is relaxed. I believe the virus can still stay in the body, like cancer cells. They only need a trigger to multiply uncontrollably. I have to declare that I am not a virologist, scientist or medical professional.

Don’t think that Victorian and New South Wales are over cautious in relaxing the restrictions. It is true that these states are still very low in confirmed cases and fatality, no one should be complacent and take things for granted.

Within the linked report is a table showing the various countries’ cases and deaths in different countries,

High infection rate may be a rough guide to the severity, but the actual number of deaths give a more disturbing story,

The ranking of number of deaths of various countries extracted is shown below:

  • USA
  • Brazil
  • UK
  • Italy
  • France

I am very surprised with the cases in France, and I shall research a bit more about the country.

Coronavirus return to Lombardy the Wuhan of the West

Beijing battles ‘explosive coronavirus outbreak’ as food market cases mount
https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-europe-53100590/coronavirus-return-to-lombardy-the-wuhan-of-the-west

I was blogging about the danger of allowing the F1 Grand Prix to proceed. I even contacted an MP asking him to approach the government to cancel the event.

Yhe rationale behind the call was that many of the racing drivers and supporting team members were from Italy. Obviously, many race goers would also be from Italy.

Coronavirus was already spreading in many regions in Italy like wildfire. The federal and state governments were still pussy footing about shutting down inbound air traffic from overseas including Italian until the day after Italy initiated a lockdown banning all outbound travelling.

I could breathe a sign of relief, because there were enough statistics in the news media around the world supporting my view of early lockdown.

There were reports about Lombardy of Italy of early detection of an unknown pneumonia-like disease going on around November 2019, but no one seemed to be overly concern until the first case was announced when someone returned from Wuhan. Since then, Lombardy became the global epicentre of coronavirus as it saw the first major outbreak in Europe.

My recent blogs wrote about the coronavirus could have a much longer incubation period, and I think Lombardy case can possibly be a supporting justification. Many of the people in the region could have been carriers of the virus, but among those infected many were asymptomatic and possibly exhibited mild symptoms only.

Recently many people wanted to erase "history" of past people or events. I hope this Coronavirus pandemic, and similar pandemic like the Spanish Flu should not be used as political football and erased from record to remind us of human beings are very vulnerable to death - not by slavery, hunger, nuclear weapons, pollution, but by microscopic viruses, invisible to naked eyes, and NOT an invention by human race.

Why so many countries still have high positive cases and deaths?

Posted to Facebook on 21/6/2020 at 3:12 AM
World Health Organisation reports largest single-day increase in cases

Why do so many countries still have high positive cases and deaths after many weeks or even months since the pandemic? Why is Victoria experiencing more community transmitted cases now?

Like what I have rewritten a few months back, the incubation period for some people can be a lot longer than a fortnight, and in one case, it took more than one and a half months.

Some infected people are asymptomatic in the early days, until their defence system happens to weaken due to various reasons. The virus will take the opportunity to multiply quickly. These are likely to be more aggressive and infectious. They build up stronger resistance after learning how to avoid destruction by the body.

Take care. I am advising you as a logician, not a medical professional.

Monday’s easing of restrictions postponed after alarming virus spike

World Health Organisation reports largest single-day increase in cases
https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/five-guests-in-your-home-victorian-restrictions-tightened-20200620-p554j5.html

I always suspect a second wave of Coronavirus attack would occur. My greatest fear of a big surge is when air travel resume ferrying inbound travellers from countries like US, UK, Sweden, Italy, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, etc. There are many infection hotspots around the world, but the number of travellers arriving from these places are not in large numbers.

So far the number of school children being infected is still very small, but that may not necessary mean that a surge may not take place. The recent cases that prompted the Premier to reimpose stricter rule dropping the number of visitors from 10 to 5 is a clear indication his and experts concern of a worse outbreak.

Most young people think that they are tough and invincible. They don’t believe they will die from the infection because statistics tells them so. However, they forget that if they become infected and display no symptom, does not mean that they can’t do a great deal of damage to the people they are in contact with, including their friends, spouses, parents, colleagues, and unknown people.

Please do take care and observe social distancing.

Latest New York coronavirus statistics

The COVID-19 statistics for New York comprises 384k confirmed cases and 24,629 deaths as at 18 June 2020.

COVID-19 has been devastating in New York City, especially to immigrant residents. More than half the confirmed deaths in New York City lived in primarily black and brown neighbourhood.

Mayor De Blasio launched the Immigrant COVI-19 Burial Assistance Program to ensure no family should struggle to pay for the burial of a loved one, and vulnerable New Yorkers won't have to.

Coronavirus is still spreading, and New Yorkers are required to wear a mask, and observe social distance of 6 feet in public.

  • New York State reached the lowest percentage of positive COVID-19 tests yesterday since the pandemic began.
  • Governor Cuomo signs legislation prohibiting health care employers from penalizing employees for making complaints of employer violations.
  • Gatherings of up to 25 people will be allowed in Phase Three of reopening, up from the limit of 10.
  • Hospitals and group homes will be allowed to accept visitors at their discretion, while following state guidelines including time-limited visits and requiring visitors to wear PPE and be subject to symptom and temperature checks.

This confirms that those countries with nutty leaders who have stupid ideas of not locking down their countries early or not at all cause more fatality and infection.

Boris Johnson contracted the virus and then changed his mind. Research has shown that even if he locked down the country one week earlier, the casualty would have been halved.

US still take the lead, and it is not something to be proud of.

President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil, also often described as South America’s Donald Trump, remains dismissive of the devastating impact of the virus and opposed to lockdowns. The country achieved unenviable results breaking new record of Coronavirus cases recently.

As long as the community is not completely free to move around, and there remains great uncertainly about employment prospect, potential sellers will continue to hold on to their properties.

The question is why sell unless one has a reason to do so. When one sells his property, he needs another one to live in, whether you call it downsizing, upsizing or right sizing.

The prices will not drop, as I mentioned in several blogs. Unfortunately, due to scarcity, the price may even climb a bit higher.

The critical time is around the end of August and September, when the mortgage repayment deferral and Jobkeeper payment will discontinue, unless the government changes its heart.

Many landlords are facing financial trouble too, with tenants not paying rent during this period.

All these unfavourable conditions can lead to only one conclusion, that is, many property owners may have to put their properties in the market reluctantly, not by choice.

In recent weeks, a lot of activities have been going on with many mortgage holders looking for brokers to refinance their mortgage, in order to lower their repayment burden.

It is not a wise move to go a public small enclosed space. You do not know whether an infected person was present before and left behind a trail of virus, still lingering in the air as the article cited, as well in the toilet bowls.

Leading from this argument, if the air in a small restaurant is contaminated with the virus, only you are breathing in the air, but also allow the virus to be ingested while you are enjoying your food.

The best form of prevention is avoidance.

Coronavirus cases and deaths are still spiking in Brazil, US, India, South Africa and Sweden.

President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil, also often described as South America’s Donald Trump, remains dismissive of the devastating impact of the virus and opposed to lockdowns.

Russia is now behind only the United States and Brazil in its number of reported infections.

India still has over 5,000 cases a day, signalling the coronavirus outbreak is yet to slow down.

Sweden opted for a soft social distancing approach, and adopted a “principle of responsibility”. Its high death rate is a high price to pay for its “soft” COVID-19 policy.

Thank you.
